Firefighters Night

The annual DFD Firefighters Night at the Westerner's Baseball game will be held Wednesday July 9th at Rogers Park.

BBQ for Local 801 friends and family starts at 6 pm. Hamburgers, hot dogs will be served.

Game time is 7pm. Games for the kids will take place between innings.

Join us for food, fun and and baseball!

Welcome Aboard

The Officer's of Local 801 would like to welcome the following Fire Fighters to the City of Danbury Fire Department, and the Danbury Professional Fire Fighters Association

Fire Fighters M. Finn, G. Korotash, J. Sherman, D. Brown, A. Lewis, and P. Perrotti will join their assigned shifts this weekend. They, along with the rest of Class 41, have all just completed a 14 week course of training at the Ct. State Fire Academy in Windsor Locks, and graduated on May 22, in a ceremony held at the Learning Corridor Theater of Performing Arts in Hartford.

The 5th Annual "Road Hogs for Josh" Motorcycle Rally

The 5th Annual "Road Hogs for Josh" Motorcycle Rally will be Sunday, July 20, 2008. It will start at 10am at the Ridgefield Fire Department. Cost is $40 per rider which includes breakfast, lunch and t-shirt. Sponsorships are always welcome and begin at $250. I have attached a pdf.file of the poster for your convenience. House Bill 5629 Passed!

House Bill 5629 passed the House of Representatives on Tuesday April 23, 2008 by a vote of 135-16!!

THANK YOU to all our members who made phone calls, trips to the Capitol and wrote emails to legislators...the work paid off. It is now on to the SENATE and we need to expend the same effort there that we did in the HOUSE.

Today, April 29, 2008, House Bill No. 5629 passed the Ct. State Senate by a vote of 35 – 0!!!!

President Carozza would like to personally thank our Local Presidents and members for their lobbying efforts, and trips to the Capitol.
President Carozza would also like to thank Paul Rapanault, Director of Legislative Affairs, Staff Representative Thomas DiScipio, & Denis O'Brien for their Lobbing efforts.

House Bill 5629 was signed into law by Governor Rell on May 12, 2008; and will go into effect on July 1, 2009. This new law will not diminish any benefits currently enjoyed by members hired prior to July, 1996.
